Ragusa, the baroque Sicily for your holidays.
In the Sicilian country, among dry-stone walls, olive and carob trees and
locusts pursue themselves. In the midst, farms and patrician villas. On the one hand the
sea, on the other splendid Baroque cities reconstructed after the 1693 earthquake, three
centuries ago. To the center it detaches Ibla with his Baroque, inserted by the Unesco,
together with Modica, Noto and Scicli, among the sites patrimony of the humanity. Many
among these splendid houses they are let to rent to the tourists that come to discover
this unknown country of the Sicily. Numerous they are the hotels, the "bed &
breakfast" in the residences of the historical center of Ragusa, the holiday houses,
the agritourism.
The hinterland offers, then, itineraries of great cultural interest: Kamarina
with its interesting museum, the castle of Donnafugata; the Baroque cities of Modica and
Noto; Piazza Armerina with Roman "Villa del casale" and so many other, all
testimonies of endless dominations and cultures.
And, near, Syracuse (80 kms) with its Greek theater where every
year, in the summer, the classical representations are developed; Agrigento (110 kms) with
itsr splendid Greek temples; Taormina (150 kms) famous all over the world in its beauty
and so many other cities full of history and of culture.
The tourism, the agriturism are exploded and many people now, for their trips and their
vacations, choose more and more this extended earth between the sea and the country,
illuminated by a sun that it revives the extraordinary of its colors. (in the photo the
castle of Donnafugata)
