Costaiblea Film Fest: Donnafugata,
the garden of the cinema.
July 19 th 2005. It has started by Sunday, 17 July, in Ragusa, the IX edition of the
Costaiblea Film Festival, the cinema review that will entirely be held to the castle of
Donnafugata with directors Vito Zagarrio and Francis Calogero's artistic direction and
publisher Salvatore Schembari's organizational direction.
So many the novelties for this edition. The first one concerns the creation of a real
"Garden of the Cinema."
Everyone who will intervene to the Costaiblea, he will plant a small sapling inside an
area of the park of the castle of Donnafugata. Every can affix ticket with a thought or an
anecdote of his own career to go so to constitute an unusual garden.
The managers artists are detained on the program of the festival that also foresees two
conferences, one on the Italian cinema and the difficulties of distribution of the films
and the other on the new cinema techniques in the digital time.
"Costaiblea has found house inside the castle of Donnafugata", he has declared
the artistic manager Vito Zagarrio. "It is a beautiful location for our festival
started in 1991 from Scicli. Now it is the festival of the cinema of the city of Ragusa
and the Ragusa shire. An initiative that has had great continuity during the years and
that it brings on the screen beautiful first works, but also produced film and realized in
Sicily and Sicilian short films. Donnafugata, with its terrace and with the inside
courtyards, it is lent a lot to the initiative. We hope for the future to be able to have
also increase economic from the local corporate body that however sustain us and they ask
us to go on."
To the Costaiblea Film Festival will be assigned three prizes. There is the
"Donnafugata Cinema gold carrubo" that it will go, to the career, to theTaviani
brothers. The other prize is purely cultural, the "Bufalino, the enfant du
paradis", that will go to the film "The rest of nothing" of Antonietta De
Lillo with Maria De Medeiros. The last prize is the "Rosebud" that it will be
assigned to one of the films in planning. To decree the winning film will directly be the
called public every evening to vote.
"The last day of the festival, Sunday July 24 th, it will be the delivery of the
prize "Donnafugata Cinema gold carrubo" to the Taviani brothers and the
contextual inauguration of a show of the artists of the Group of Scicli that, from the
film to the cloth, they will propose an own interpretation of the film "Kaos".
The show it will continue in Donnafugata up to next August 7."
